Marcelin Flandrin (1889–1957), photographer established in Casablanca from 1921, documented Morocco with particular attention to architecture, to developments in society and everyday scenes. His work, of great magnitude, today constitutes an essential fund kept at the Maison de la Photographie in Marrakech.
This photograph of the Bouanania Madrasa in Fez reveals his keen sense of composition and light, as well as its ability to restore the atmosphere and spirituality of the place, offering a precious testimony of Moroccan heritage at the beginning of the 20th century.
