The variety of landscapes, the hospitality of its people, the light, are characteristics of Morocco. The photographers who since 1860 visit Morocco, have made extraordinary images. First in Tangier and Tetouan, then from the beginning of the 20th century throughout Morocco, Did, Marrakech, the Atlas, the great south. Magnificent portraits, landscapes constitute an exceptional set of images.
The collection of the Maison de la Photographie aims to show the passion aroused by Morocco and highlight a heritage, a story, which are among the treasures of humanity.
The exhibition “Morocco, land of light” selects original photographs taken by European and Moroccan photographers. In Arabic photography translates to “draw with light”. What better translation reveals the fragile photographic documents? ?
The exhibited photographs are part of the archives of the Maison de la Photographie de Marrakech.
