Former bailiff's clerk, then photographer in Sidi bel Abbès under the name "Edit. Boumendil Phot. Sidi bel abbes ".
In 1907, he photographed the French occupation of Oujda (Morocco), then to 1908-1913, he moved his workshop to Morocco, in Taourirt. His postcards divided into several series mainly illustrate French military operations : "Events of the Algerian-Moroccan border (1906) », "Column of Haut-Guir (1908) », "Column of the Middle Moulouya (1915) ». Postcards of cities, landscapes and monuments are published under the name "France in Eastern Morocco".
In 1912, during the Riff revolt, he photographed the presence of Spanish soldiers in the French zone, in Taourirt.
