Jacques Belin
Amazigh woman wearing jewelry, El Kelaa des M'Gouna, Dades Valley
Circa 1930
Jacques Belin, photographer active in Morocco in the 20th century, takes an ethnographic and aesthetic look at local cultures. This photograph shows a young Amazigh woman in El Kelaa des M’Gouna, whose traditional makeup and festive jewelry celebrate the Amazigh identity of the Dadès Valley. Today, the Maison de la Photographie de Marrakech has a rich collection of these vintage prints, thus preserving this precious Moroccan visual heritage.
