Morocco, Views from yesterday and today

Date : 20 Avril – 31 October 2026

Since 2009, the House of Photography of Marrakech promotes the cultural and human diversity of Morocco through the richness of photographic views. From the end of the 19th century to today, the photograph bears witness to a meeting between authors, times and sensibilities, each bringing their own way of seeing and representing reality. The exhibition “Morocco, Views from yesterday and today” offers a journey through these multiple visions. It highlights the evolution of photographic practices, from the first documentary approaches to contemporary approaches, closer to individuals and their experiences. Portraits, life scenes, architectures and traditions thus reveal a plural Morocco, in constant transformation. Through the images, a dialogue emerges between past and present, where each photograph becomes an invitation to observe, understand and feel. The exhibition encourages the visitor to take an attentive and personal look, by exploring the relationship between image, memory and perception of the world.
